The LIEU DIT, established in Nantes in 2022, is a pioneering "village" central square hospitality concept emphasizing proximity, added services, and sustainability.

Concept Highlights:

  1. Local Business Focus: Catering to both locals and visitors, integrating into the community.
  2. Enhanced Services: Providing additional services such as catering, retail, seminars, and well-being, which add value despite being less profitable.
  3. Modern Hospitality: Emphasizing environmental sustainability and innovative local initiatives.

Unique Offerings:

  • "No-star" Hotel: High-quality bedding, showers, and Wi-Fi, but no TVs, phones, desks, or minibars, encouraging guests to use communal food and beverage areas. Over 60% of furnishings are recycled or repurposed.
  • Gasparelli Pizza: Serving healthy, locally sourced Neapolitan pizzas.
  • Local Wine and Grocery Store: Featuring natural wines, local beers, and regional products.
  • Outside Playground: Hosting events and activities like surfboard rentals, boxing classes, and a comedy club, attracting locals.
  • Community Engagement: Communicating values of optimism, kindness, and awareness.

Simplicity and Sustainability:

  • Recycling and Reusing: Minimizing environmental impact through renovation and recycling.
  • Low-tech Approach: Avoiding unnecessary technological luxuries.
  • Cycling-Friendly: No parking but excellent facilities for cyclists.
  • Local Breakfast: Offering local products and minimizing food miles.
  • Water Conservation: Using hourglasses in showers and promoting sustainable habits.

Innovative Features:

  • Creative Furnishings: Including shuttlecock furniture, reclaimed wood tables, a boat meeting room, refurbished beds, and second-hand sinks.
