BWH Hotels France is at the forefront of sustainable tourism, leveraging the Green Key certification to drive ecological and economic transformation across its network. Green Key, an internationally recognized label for sustainable tourism, requires meeting stringent criteria in areas such as water and energy management, waste reduction, and responsible purchasing. As of 2023, 40% of BWH hotels are Green Key certified, with a target to reach 85% by 2025.
This initiative aligns with France's national goals for sustainable tourism, aiming for carbon neutrality by 2050. BWH supports its hotels through comprehensive CSR programs, monthly consultations, and practical tools like audits, solution catalogues, and training programs. Key partnerships with over 20 organizations further enhance their sustainable practices.
The "Because We Care" program encapsulates BWH’s commitment to sustainability under three pillars: economy, education, and local challenges. Actions include transitioning to bio-waste composting, reducing single-use packaging, and promoting biodiversity. BWH also educates hotel staff as Green Key ambassadors to ensure consistent guest engagement in eco-friendly practices.
Future objectives include accelerating Green Key certifications, adopting a corporate purpose, and conducting scope 3 carbon audits. By embedding sustainability into its corporate DNA, BWH aims to meet customer expectations, improve operational efficiency, and position France as a global leader in sustainable tourism.
This comprehensive transformation reflects a strategic vision to anticipate environmental challenges, adapt to regulatory changes, and foster resilience within the hospitality sector. Through leadership in CSR and innovation, BWH is not only enhancing its brand image but also setting a benchmark for sustainable tourism worldwide.
